Christmas Concert

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving.  I know there are several viruses going around right now, as well as strep.  Please follow the guidelines outlined in the sick policy closely.  They are not meant to inconvenience anyone; they are meant to protect everyone.

Our Christmas Concert is scheduled for December 7th at 6:30 p.m.  We would like to really encourage everyone that can attend to do so.  It is truly a heartwarming experience and Mrs. Rhem puts a lot of work into the program.  It is also a great opportunity for fellowship and helps build the sense of community we value so much.  If your child does not have a glockenspiel, please try and have it purchased by the concert.  We will post information and send notes home as we receive information.  Please do not hesitate to call with questions or concerns.

Hello Everyone
I am in the process of getting the blog up and running.  This is definitely a work in progress for me!  I will be absent Thursday, November 8th and Friday, November 9th.  Letitia Bridgeman will be subbing for me.  Ms. JoDee is also sick, so there will be two different people in the classroom on Thursday.  Mrs. Kennedy from Mrs. Gaddy's room will step in to help. Hopefully, things will be back to normal on Friday. Please keep checking in and I will be updating you on a regular basis.  Mrs. Moore

Pilgrim Stew

We are preparing for Thanksgiving and in doing so we will be learning about what the pilgrims ate when they gave thanks in the new world. We are planning to make "pilgrim stew" for the children to eat during lunch on Tuesday, November 22, 2011.

We will cut and prepare the ingredients on Monday, November 21, 2011 during our Fall Festival. We will use a crock pot to cook the ingredients in the classroom on November 22, 2011. If you have any diet concerns please let us know so that we can plan ahead.

We are asking each child to bring in something as their part of the preparation. The item we ask your child to bring is listed on the bottom of the page that was sent home with your child. The menu is listed below, and the recipe for Pilgrim Stew follows if you would like to try it at home. Thank you for your contribution to our special Thanksgiving lunch.

Fall Festival

Our Fall Festival will be on November 21, 2011 from 8:45-11:45 for our 3-6 classes. This is an event we plan each year with games, special snacks, and crafts centered around Fall and Thanksgiving. We are asking for a contribution of $2.00 from each child to help purchase some of the materials needed for the event. Please send the $2.00 in an envelope marked Fall Festival and your child's name. Your child's room mom will also be contacting you to ask for volunteers to help with the festival stations.

What to do when your child is sick...

What to do when your child is sick…
Guidelines from the Parent Handbook
Keep your child at home if he or she is sick. As a guideline, children should be kept home for the following reasons:
 Above-normal temperature (100°F or above).
 Active cold with these symptoms: yellow mucus, fever,
diarrhea, and/or nausea.
 Rash of unknown origin.
 Discharge from eyes or ears.
 If your child is not well enough to go outside.
 Head lice.
Your child should be free of any symptoms of an illness such as fever, diarrhea, rash or vomiting for 24 hours before returning to school. Please call the school between 8:00 AM and 8:30 AM to let the office know your child will be absent. The school also needs to know if your child has been diagnosed with a contagious disease or head lice so that other families can be warned.
